Opening of The St. Regis Red Sea Resort luxury hotel

The first of our timber construction projects for the new regenerative tourism destination ‘The Red Sea’ is now open. The recently completed ‘The St. Regis Red Sea Resort’ is now welcoming guests. The luxury hotel is located on an unspoilt private island on Saudi Arabia’s west coast where guests can enjoy a holiday free from any disturbance in a total of 90 water and beach villas. The villas with their spacious floor plans and private pools bear  the signature of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. Low-rise beach houses with gently contoured Free Form roofs are reminiscent of sand dunes, while sea corals were the architect’s inspiration for the spiral-shaped water villas. The sophisticated design of the buildings with many curved shapes and the multitude of components made our work both complex and challenging.

On behalf of  Red Sea Global, we were responsible for planning, manufacturing and supplying the prefabricated timber construction elements for the holiday villas. And our specialists provided advice and support to the local assembly teams during the construction of the villas. Timber construction know-how has to be taught from scratch in the desert region where steel, concrete and glass are usually used for building.
